Meet the School Counseling Staff

Mr. Ryan Schuyler – Last Names A-Fa,, 804-633-9886, x5105

Credentials: M.Ed., Counselor Education, University of Virginia; B.S., Sociology, Virginia Tech

Mr. Schuyler is originally from Arlington, VA, and worked as a middle school counselor before joining the team at CHS.  Some of his individual duties include coordinating the Dual Enrollment program, assisting with the master schedule, maintaining the course request system and running the school counseling department’s website.  His counseling approach includes aspects of trauma-informed care and rational-emotive techniques aiming to help individuals solve problems by re-evaluating their view of the problem itself. He believes it is always a great day to be a Cavalier.

Credentials: Ed.S., Education, Liberty University; M.A., Counseling, Liberty University; M.A., Education, Liberty University; B.S., Psychology and Business, Bridgewater College

Mrs. Huntsinger has received a Career Coach Certification from the Virginia Community College System and a Global Career Development Facilitator Certification from UVA.  Mrs. Huntsinger’s counseling duties include the School Counseling Newsletter, Career Day, Scholarships, and the Senior Award Ceremony. She enjoys her school counseling career, family, hiking, snow skiing, motorcycling, reading, and traveling.  

Mrs. Melicer Jones – Last Names Me-Sp,, 804-633-9886, x5111

Credentials: M.Ed., Counselor Education, Virginia State University; B.S., Elementary Education, Florida A&M 

Mrs. Jones is originally from St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. Before coming to CHS she taught elementary school for 13 years. Her responsibilities include Freshman Transition Coordinator, Academic Awards Banquet Coordinator and Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School Liaison. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and two young daughters. She’s also a very active member of her church, where she serves on the Praise Team and leads the Teen Ministry with her husband. “Do not grow weary in well doing for in due season you will reap, if you faint not” is the verse she lives by to keep herself motivated.

Ms. Mallory McMullin – Director of School Counseling, Last Names St-Z,, 804-633-9886, x5107

Credentials: M.Ed., Counselor Education, Virginia Commonwealth University; B.S., Psychology, Virginia Commonwealth University.

Ms. McMullin is originally from Richmond, Virginia and is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University.  As the Director of School Counseling, some of her responsibilities include coordinating with the Commonwealth Governors School and the Caroline Diversified Learning Center as well as coleading our new high school student leaders group for Bowling Green Elementary School. Ms. McMullin lives in Hanover County, Virginia with her playful beagle, Avery.

Mrs. Lorrie Hummer – Career Coach,, 804-633-9886, x5124

Credentials: M.Ed., Counselor Education, Virginia Commonwealth University; B.S., Human Services Counseling, Old Dominion University

Mrs. Hummer is originally from New York but considers Virginia her home.  She has worked in the human services and education field for 20 years and higher education for ten years. She is a Certified Career Coach through the VCCS Certification program. She enjoys working with 9th through 12th graders to explore careers and career pathways.   Mrs. Hummer’s primary focus is assisting seniors as they transition from high school to postsecondary education, military, workforce training, apprenticeship or employment.

Ms. Madison Allen – College Adviser, 804-633-9886 x5026

Credentials: B.A., Spanish, University of Virginia

Ms. Allen is originally from Powhatan, Virginia and is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a degree in Spanish. As Caroline’s College Adviser, she is here to help students figure out their plans after high school, whether that is enrolling in a four year university, two year college, or entering the workforce. She can assist with applying to college, filling out financial aid paperwork, registering for the SAT or ACT, finding scholarships, and more. Ms. Allen is extremely excited to meet with students and help them find out which path is best for them!
