Each year, eight students from REC’s service territory travel to Washington, D.C., to explore key issues in the electric industry, study the cooperative business model, interact with students in team- and leadership-building programs, tour historical and cultural sites, meet their members of Congress and attend a show at the Kennedy Center. They also make lifelong friends.
More than 1,800 students from across the country will participate in the National Rural Electric Cooperative 2019 Youth Tour, and applications are now available.
Students who are currently juniors in high school and whose parents or guardians are consumer-owners of REC are eligible to apply for this REC-sponsored trip. Students must do the following to be considered:
