Senior Awards Night

Attendance is not mandatory, however, if your student is being recognized we highly encourage he/she to attend. Your student will receive an invitation in the mail if he/she will be recognized at Senior Awards Night. Students planning to attend must wear graduation robes.
Important Change to AP Score Reporting for Students
AP® Students Will Get Scores Online This Year
Students will receive their AP scores online this July. This convenient new system replaces the old paper score reports, which will no longer be mailed. For more information on accessing your scores online, Click here

The Tax Night scheduled for this Thursday, April 11th has been canceled.  If you still need to get your taxes done and you make a combined income of $51,000 or less, the link below is a listing of the locations where tax preparations will take place for free.  The Germanna location on Thursday April 11th is the Fredericksburg campus on Route 17 just before you get to Route 1.  We apologize any inconvenience this may have caused. Governor McDonnell has declared April as Military Child month.  School divisions are encouraged to  take time in April, and throughout the year, to recognize the service of  military servicemen and servicewomen, their families and their children. Across  the nation, Friday, April 12, 2013, will be the day to “Purple Up! For Military  Kids.” People are being encouraged to wear purple on April 12th to show support  for our military kids and to thank them for their strength and sacrifices. All seniors who are planning to attend Germanna in the fall are expected to attend a New Student Orientation.  At orientation you will receive information to prepare for, select and pay for your classes.  There will also be information about taking your placement tests, veteran’s and other services. Senator Mark Warner invites high school and middle school students, their parents, and guidance counselors to Academy Day 2013. Attendees will be provided a comprehensive overview of the United States service academies and their admission process. In addition, students will be able to meet with officials from all five service academies as well as representatives from ROTC programs, Virginia Tech, and the Virginia Military Institute.  Representatives from Virginia Congressional offices will be available to answer questions regarding the application procedures for congressional

The annual College Forum sponsored by CGS and University of Mary Washington will be held next Thursday, March 7, 2013.  The event begins at 6 p.m. with a “talk and take” session. A guidance counselor, financial planner, and financial aid advisors will be available to talk about the college planning journey with families.  The College Admissions presentation with university officials from College of William and Mary, UVA, University of Richmond,and UMW will begin at 7 p.m.

Rappahannock Electric Coop (REC) Youth Tour

 Since 1964, the Washington Youth Tour has been a means for high school students to visit Washington, D.C., interact with their peers from around the country, learn about Cooperatives and meet their Congressmen and Senators.  REC will select 7 juniors for the FREE June 17 – 21, 2012 trip.  Applicants whose parents are members of REC will be given primary consideration for selection.  Additionally, applicants should be high school juniors for the 2011-2012 school year.  The deadline to apply is March 19, 2012. Applications can be downloaded from REC’s Youth Tour webpage at   Applications can also be found in the Scholarship bin located in the School Counseling Department!

SAT Scheduled for Jan 26, 2013 has been re-scheduled for Saturday Feb 16, 2013

Effective March 2013, College Board is requiring a photo during the SAT or SAT Subject Tests registration process. If you are planning to register for the March, May or June 2013 SAT or SAT Subject Tests, you must plan to upload a picture. Specifics about photo requirements can be found at If you do not have access to a camera, please visit the Career Center.

  Students who wish to take the ACT must submit an acceptable photo as part of their test registration. For the December test, the deadline to upload a photo is Tuesday, December 4 (12 noon Central). If students miss this deadline, their registration will be cancelled and they will not be admitted to the December 2012 test. This policy will be strictly enforced and has been communicated to students, as part of our registration process and in email reminders to those students who have not yet complied.

No action is being requested of you. If your students have questions about providing a photo, you can refer them to our photo submission requirements for more information.
